1st Win For Thibodeau And The Bulls

Tom Thibodeau will remember his 1st NBA coaching victory for a long long time as the Bulls rallied from 21 down to beat Detroit 101-91. The Bulls were awful in the first half when their defense allowed 63 points but after a tongue lashing from the coaching staff, they held Detroit to just 28 after intermission.

Still, the Bulls trailed by 15 going into the 4th quarter but Derrick Rose continued his offensive assault and got help from Joakim Noah and James Johnson. Rose tied his career high with 39 points while Noah had another double double with 15 points and 17 rebounds and Johnson made some huge plays down the stretch.

Rose also contributed 6 boards and 7 assists and was showered by the capacity crowd with chants of MVP,  MVP,  MVP. A little premature for that with only two games in the books but there is no doubt that Rose continues to elevate his game and that's what all the great ones do. It is utterly amazing how fast he moves up the court with the ball and then explodes to the basket. And it's also amazing to watch how hard Noah works and his energy is absolutely infectious.

So the Bulls get into the win column but they better not count on doing it in the same fashion often as they did against Detroit. Good teams won't fold like the Pistons who scored only 9 points in the 4th quarter. And an early season barometer will come up on Monday when the 3-0 Portland Trailblazers come to town.
