19-Year-Old Shot To Death In Gary
GARY, Ind. (STMW) -- A Gary teenager died Saturday morning after he was shot, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office.
Antoine Taylor, 19, of the 400 block of Grant Street, was pronounced dead at 5:32 a.m. after he was taken to Methodist Hospitals Northlake campus.
The coroner's office ruled Taylor's death a homicide.
It was unknown Saturday afternoon where the shooting occurred. Gary police were not immediately available to provide additional information.
Renaldo Thomas, the former men's basketball coach at Roosevelt High School, confirmed that Taylor played for the team this past season. Taylor played at guard.
Taylor's shooting death is the second in the city in as many days.
Bryan E. Cooke, 46, of the 1400 block of West 19th Avenue, was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds after his body was found in the 5000 block of Pennsylvania Street around 6:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Gary Police Department and the Lake County Coroner's Office.
A nearby resident discovered Cooke's body when he went outside that morning, according to police. The coroner's office ruled Cooke's death a homicide.
