18-Year-Old Fatally Stabbed By His Mother During Family Fight
CICERO, Ill. (STMW) -- An 18-year-old west suburban man was stabbed to death in a fight with his mother at their home, according to police, who said the victim started beating the woman and his 14-year-old brother when he got home early Thursday.
About 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Cicero police responded to a family disturbance at 1523 S. 60th Ct., according to a police report. Officers were met at the door by Jajuan Booth's mother, who had blood on her face and whose bloodied shirt was torn, the report said. She also had blood on her chest, pants, left hand and socks.
She told police that when Booth came home he started to beat up her 14-year-old son, according to the report. She told him to stop, at which time he started to fight with her.
He started hitting his mother, and at some point both she and her son reached for knives. She told police she was not sure what happened next, but when officers went inside the home they found Booth lying on his back in front of a couch, with blood about his face, head, chest and body, and a cut on the left side of his chest.
The responding officer found broken glass and furniture about the living room, the report said.
Booth was taken to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, where he was pronounced dead at 3:14 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. An autopsy Thursday found Booth died of multiple stab and incise wounds, and ruled his death a homicide.
His mother was also taken to MacNeal Hospital for treatment, the report said.
Cicero police continue to investigate and no charges had been filed as of about 4 p.m. Thursday.
