17 Metra Stations Still Without Power
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A day after a powerful storm swept through the area, 17 Metra commuter train stations were still without power.
Monday's storm knocked out power to more than 800,000 homes and businesses in the Chicago area, including several Metra train stations.
As of Tuesday afternoon, 17 Metra stations were still without power, meaning those stations were unable to provide platform announcements for customers or to sell tickets inside the stations.
Instead, at each station that was still without power, Metra was waiving the surcharge that passengers normally must pay for buying tickets onboard the train.
The station locations affected are:
Kenilworth and Great Lakes on the Union Pacific North Line; Crystal Lake on the Union Pacific Northwest Line; Brookfield, Hollywood and Highlands on the BNSF Railway; Fox Lake, Round Lake, Grayslake, Lake Forest, Libertyville and Ingleside on the Milwaukee District North Line; 107th Street on the Rock Island District; and Lake Villa, Schiller Park, Round Lake Beach and Mundelein on the North Central Service line.
Metra normally imposes a $3 surcharge when passengers buy tickets onboard a train, when a ticket agent is on duty at the station where the passenger boarded.
