Firefighter, 3 Others Hospitalized After Separate South Side Fires
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Chicago firefighter and three other people were hospitalized and twenty people were displaced by two separate fires on the South Side Friday morning.
The firefighter, two children and one adult were hospitalized after a fire in the South Shore neighborhood. The firefighter was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital with an undisclosed injury, while the three others were taken to South Shore Hospital, according to Fire Media Affairs. All their injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
The fire, which left seven adults and 10 children displaced, was reported about 4:30 a.m. in the first and second floors of a building in the 7800 block of South Colfax Avenue, fire media said.
Crews had the blaze under control by about 5:40 a.m., fire media said.
About 5:30 a.m., two adults and child were displaced by a fire that was reported in a two-story building in the 4500 block of South Woodlawn Avenue, fire media said. The fire was out about 5:55 a.m.
The causes of both fires remain under investigation.
