17 Arrested After Gage Park School Fights
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police arrested 17 students at Gage Park High School on the city's Southwest Side, after a fight broke out.
Officers stopped one fight at the school, at 5630 S. Rockwell St., only to see another one break out in the hallway.
About 12:40 p.m., police responded to a call of a fight on the third floor inside the school. Shortly after officers stopped that melee, another fight began on the second floor in the hallway, according to police.
Police said the second fight disrupted the normal activities of other students, so the seventeen -- a mix of girls and boys -- were all arrested and taken to the Chicago Lawn District for processing. One was released, while the other 16 were all charged as juveniles with mob action.
No injuries were reported and it was not immediately known why they were fighting.
