18 Displaced In West Side Fire
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Eighteen people were displaced from their homes early Monday, when a fire broke out in a fast food restaurant on the ground floor of their West Side building.
Firefighters arrived just after 3 a.m. for a blaze at a two-story building at 633 N. Cicero Ave., on the cusp of the West Garfield Park and Austin neighborhoods, fire officials said.
The fire happened in a fast food restaurant, a Harrison District police lieutenant said. Yo Mama's Pizza is located at the address where the fire broke out, at the southwest corner of Cicero Avenue and Erie Street.
Eighteen residents were evacuated after smoke filled the building -- seven children and 11 adults -- but some of them were already back home as of 5:30 a.m.
Others residents would be able to return home later because there was no structural damage caused by the fire, according to the police lieutenant.
No injuries were reported, according to Fire Media Affairs.
