11 Injured When Two Vans Crash On O'Hare Airfield
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Over one dozen workers were injured when two contractor's vans collided on the airfield of O'Hare Airport Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
In total, 11 workers were injured and another six refused treatment after the crash, which occurred about 2:30 p.m. near Terminal 5, which handles international flights, authorities said.
No flights were delayed as a result of the accident, said Chicago Department of Aviation spokeswoman Karen Pride. She added that there was also no fuel spilled due to the crash.
Police said the injured workers were taken to three area hospitals -- Resurrection Medical Center, Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, and Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, said police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
The accident was cleared by 3:30 p.m., according to the Department of Aviation.
Officials for the Chicago Fire Department, which Pride said was called to the scene, could not be reached for comment.
