11 Injured In CTA Bus Crash
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Eleven people were injured Saturday when a CTA bus struck a viaduct in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood on the South Side.
At 9:30 p.m., an EMS Plan I, which automatically sends at least five ambulances to the scene, was enacted for CTA bus crash, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
A CTA bus was traveling on South 130th Street when a passenger lost his balance and fell against the bus driver, which caused the bus to strike a viaduct near South Indiana Avenue, said Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
Three people were taken in "stable" condition and eight others in good condition to area hospitals, Langford said.
The bus scraped the viaduct and did not sustain any major damage, Langford said.
