11-11-11 A Benchmark For Babies, Brides And Grooms

CHICAGO (CBS) -- If you believe in rabbit's feet, or fear walking under ladders, Friday was a day you either looked forward to -- or approached with great dread.

For Jill Riechers, 11-11-11 was a good day. She welcomed Quinn Jacob into her arms.

After 12 hours of induced labor, the latest addition to the Riechers family came as his mother planned on what numerologists say is a day that evokes  enlightenment.

"His birthday will always be easy to remember," Riechers tells CBS 2's Mike Puccinelli.

Dominick Duve would tend to agree, as he listened to his fifth grade classmates at Wiesbrook Elementary School in Wheaton sing happy birthday to him.

"It's amazing.  I thought about this three years ago, and I couldn't wait 'til this day," Duve says.

District 200's superintendent and Dominic's principal turned out to present him with a pin and lead his classmates in song. But in the delivery room 11 years ago his mom wasn't thinking so much about the day.

"It's a pretty big deal and I guess I didn't realize that 11 years ago," Heather Duve said.

While being born on Nov. 11, 2011 is considered lucky, so, too, is getting married. One couple won the right for a free 11/11 wedding.

Amy Duong and Howard Kim won the prize and walked down the aisle together at the Chicago History Museum.

Talk about lucky. Their wedding package was worth $60,000.
