$10M Bond For Man Charged With Stabbing Wife To Death
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. (CBS) -- A northwest suburban man has been ordered held on $10 million bond, charged with stabbing his wife to death in front of their 9-year-old daughter on Valentine's Day.
Heriberto Ramirez, 48, was charged with first-degree murder on Monday after police arrested him at his home 442 W. Touhy Ave. in an unincorporated area near Des Plaines
Cook County Sheriff's police responded to Ramirez's home about early Monday morning after getting a 911 call from the young girl, who said that her father was "hitting" her mother, police said.
At the home, police found Alicia Ramirez, 45, dead in the bathroom with multiple stab wounds, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
An autopsy on Tuesday confirmed that she died from multiple stab wounds and ruled her death a homicide. Detectives later obtained a search warrant for the home and collected evidence at the scene, the release said.
The Ramirez's daughter was taken into protective custody and the Dept. of Children and Family Services is looking into her welfare, the release said.
The sheriff's office had responded to two previous reports of verbal altercations at the home in the past few years, the release said.
A preliminary hearing for Heriberto Ramirez was set for March 8 in Rolling Meadows.
