1 Killed In West Chicago Crash
WEST CHICAGO, Ill. (CBS) -- A person was killed early Wednesday in a crash near the DuPage County Airport in West Chicago.
As Kris Habermehl reports from Chopper 2 HD, the crash happened sometime before 6 a.m. on Powis Road just north of Hawthorne Lane.
An 18-wheeler semi-truck was trying to make a turn into the industrial park just east of the airport, when a small pickup truck came and rammed into the semi from behind. The front of the pickup truck was left crumpled under the rear of the semi-trailer.
One person was killed, Habermehl reported. Details were not immediately available.
Powis Road is closed north of Hawthorne Lane until further notice Habermehl advises motorists in the area to avoid taking Powis Road south from North Avenue.
As of 6:15 a.m., a crash reconstruction officer was at the scene.
