1 Killed, 2 Injured In South Side Shooting
UPDATED 07/13/11 8:32 a.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- One person was killed and two others were seriously injured during a shooting early Wednesday.
The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m., when the three victims were standing on a porch in the 5100 block of South Princeton Avenue, police said.
A dark-colored vehicle rolled by, and someone inside opened fire.
A 30-year-old man was shot and killed at the scene, police said. He is identified as Dante Lawrence, and he lived in the home outside which the shooting happened, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
While Fire Media Affairs spokesman Kevin MacGregor said one of the victims was a child, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said the two wounded survivors were a 34-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man.
The woman was shot in the side and remains in serious condition, police said. The 29-year-old man was shot in the leg and is now listed in good condition.
MacGregor said two people were initially taken from the shooting to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, one in "very serious" to critical condition and one in serious condition.
The shooting may have been gang-related, police said.
