1 Held, 1 At Large After Shooting At Flea Market
ALSIP, Ill. (STMW) - A man was shot inside a flea market in south suburban Alsip Sunday morning.
At 10:52 a.m. Alsip police officers responded to report of person shot inside the Swap-O-Rama at 4350 W. 129th St., according to Alsip police Sgt. Scott Zablotny.
Officers found a man who was shot and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in serious but "stable" condition Sunday afternoon, according to Zablotny, who would not disclose where on his body he was shot or how old he is.
No one else was hurt and the establishment was open at the time.
A suspect was taken into custody at the scene but he is still being interviewed as of 2:45 p.m. and no charges have been filed yet, Zablotny said.
A second suspect got behind the wheel of a black car and crashed into another car as it was exiting the parking lot and fleeing the scene, according to the sergeant.
That man is not in custody and police did not give chase after the car, which sustained front end damage from the wreck. No one was hurt in the collision.
The sergeant said the second suspect was described as being a man between the ages of 19 and 22, who was wearing loose, black clothing.
It was not immediately known if the victim was a customer or a staffer and the sergeant said they are still trying to figure out the motive and why the men involved were there.
There is a $2 cover charge to get inside the flea market but the sergeant would not disclose if it was robbed.
