1 Dead In Crash On Dan Ryan
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man is dead after the driver of the car he was in lost control and crashed through a guard rail on the Dan Ryan Expressway late Saturday.
A 2004 Lincoln LS was traveling south at a high rate of speed on the Dan Ryan Expressway about 11:04 p.m. when it crashed through the guard rail near 47th Street, went up the grassy embankment, hit an electrical traffic box and came to rest on a retaining wall, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Joe Stangl said.
One of the passengers, 26-year-old Deandre M. Phair of the 8400 block of South Marquette Avenue, was dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
An autopsy performed Sunday determined Phair died of multiple injuries suffered from a motor vehicle collision, the medical examiner's office said, adding that Phair's death was an accident.
Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said another person in the car was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
Stangl described that person as a 27-year-old man.
The male driver of the car fled on foot and is still at large Sunday morning, Stangl said.
