1 Dead, At Least 4 Wounded In Overnight Shootings

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are investigating several shootings overnight, which left one teenage boy dead and at least four others wounded on the South and Southwest sides.

The first shooting took the life of Juan Bautista, 16, in the Brighton Park neighborhood. He was standing in the 3700 block of South Albany Avenue at 9:50 p.m. when a dark-colored sport-utility vehicle came by and someone inside opened fire, police said.

Bautista, of the 3500 block of South Francisco Avenue, was dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

In a second incident, two teenagers were wounded in a shooting in the Park Manor neighborhood.

A gunman shot an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl as they stood on the sidewalk in the 500 block of East 74th Street around 10 p.m., police said.

The 18-year-old man was shot in the back and taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

The 16-year-old girl was shot in the leg and taken in good condition to Jackson Park Hospital, police said.

Police are also searching for a man who shot and wounded a teenager around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood.

The 17-year-old boy was standing on the sidewalk in the 1200 block of West 81st Street when he was shot in both feet, according to police News Affairs.

The teenager was taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

Finally at 12:15 p.m., a man was shot in the side around 98th Street and Drexel Avenue in the Cottage Grove Heights neighborhood.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition.

No one was in custody in any of the shootings early Thursday.
