1 Dead, 8 Wounded In Shootings Tuesday Across Chicago
CHICAGO (STMW) -- One man was killed and at least eight other people, including a 13-year-old boy, were wounded in shootings Tuesday on the city's South and West sides.
An 18-year-old man was killed and two teenage boys were wounded in a shooting about 11:10 a.m. in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
The group was standing on the sidewalk in the 100 block of North Laporte Avenue when two males emerged from an alley and fired shots, according to Chicago Police. The suspects ran north after the shooting.
Keon Boyd, 18, was shot in the shoulder and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:59 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. Boyd lived in the 200 block of North Leamington Avenue.
A 17-year-old boy was shot in the left shoulder and also taken to Stroger, where his condition stabilized, police said.
A 13-year-old boy was shot in both legs and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized.
The latest shooting happened at 11:13 p.m. in the South Side Englewood neighborhood. A 45-year-old man was sitting on a front porch in the 5600 block of South Racine when a male on the sidewalk fired shots, striking the man in the right foot, police said. He was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
Less than an hour earlier, a 20-year-old woman was shot in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side. She was standing in an alley with two males about 10:27 p.m. in the 12400 block of South Normal when someone fired shots, police said. She was shot in the back and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where her condition was stabilized.
About 7:45 p.m., a 50-year-old man was shot in the arm while standing in front of a home in the West Englewood neighborhood's 6400 block of South Wolcott, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center, where his condition stabilized.
Earlier Tuesday evening, a 29-year-old woman was shot in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side. She suffered a graze wound to her abdomen about 7:25 p.m. in the 2900 block of South Dearborn, police said. She was treated on the scene and refused further medical assistance.
About 6:50 p.m., a man was wounded in another West Englewood neighborhood shooting on the South Side. The 29-year-old was walking in the 6600 block of South Ashland when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said. He took himself to Holy Cross Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. His condition was stabilized and he was later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Tuesday's first nonfatal shooting occurred at 12:22 p.m. in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side. A 51-year-old woman was walking into a home in the 6300 block of South Mozart when she heard shots fired, police said. She was shot in the right leg and taken to Christ Medical Center, where her condition was stabilized. Police said the woman was not the intended target of the shooting.
