1 Dead, 2 Wounded In Far South Side Shooting
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are searching for the gunmen who opened fire on the Far South Side, killing one man and sending two others to the hospital.
The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. Wednesday near 134th Street and Prairie Avenue, just north of the Little Calumet River and west of the Altgeld Gardens public housing development.
Police say two men and a teenage boy were standing on the sidewalk when two men came up and opened fire.
Robert Barr, 29, of the 200 block of East 134th Street, was shot in the head and abdomen, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital of Cook County at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
A 15-year-old boy was also shot in the leg, and a 22-year-old man sustained a graze wound to the hip, police said. Both were taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital.
Calumet Area police detectives are investigating the shooting. No one was in custody Thursday morning.
