Despite all of the recent rain, there is no major flooding expected except for some of the usual, flood prone areas.
It's warm and rainy this warming. The heaviest rain has already fallen, and the rain will continue to lighten and taper off around midday. Most areas will end up with 1-2" of rain with isolated spots up to 3".
Temperatures will return to the 30s today along with a light breeze. High pressure will start to lose a little grip on our weather as well. High clouds will be around from time-to-time as a warm front approaches from our southwest.
Continental Polar air has taken the plunge into our backyards. Yes, it's a shock to your system as you walk outside this morning. Then, we can factor in the gusty NW winds in order to have wind chill readings 0F to -5F. Despite the all encompassing sunshine, highs will hover in between 20F and 27F.
Big changes in the local weather pattern are on the way over the next few days. It truly is classic March weather in New England.
As an Alberta Clipper approaches New England, clouds will be building this afternoon and producing brief rain/snow showers . These brief spurts will occur from 2pm-8pm as a cold front sweeps across the region.
It's March 1...the beginning of spring, meteorologically. Happy Spring! Today, the sun will be shining, and the winds will gradually calm throughout the day. Highs will range from the middle 30s to near 40F across SE Mass..
Winter's last gasp? The last three years we have received our last measureable snowfall on March 1st, March 9th, and March 1st respectively.
The onset of precipitation this morning will be mixed with sleet and freezing rain for interior and higher elevation locales. Otherwise, the mix will switch to rain by mid-morning.
A tale of two different worlds right now - very heavy rain falling in most of Massachusetts and just across the border, heavy, wet snow in all of New Hampshire
The title says it all. However, there's going to be a fine line between the heavy rain and the heavy snow. For the majority of our viewing area, we can expect heavy rain from the morning commute thru mid-afternoon. Most areas will receive 1-2" of rain with isolated locations approaching 3".
Very heavy rain, now centered in the Midwest has a bead on New England and by this time tomorrow it will be absolutely pouring.
We will squeeze out one more decent day today. Sun will give way to clouds as the day progresses. High pressure will lose its grip while a warm front and apporaching low pressure system make their move. Highs will hover near 40F degrees today with a light southerly breeze.
An active weather pattern is setting up over the next few weeks and it looks like March may come in like a lion.
Tranquil weather continues to top our weather headlines thru Thursday. Sunny skies today and lighter northwest winds will allow for the mercury to rise into the mid and upper 30s.
Today is the beginning of a 3-day dry stretch. It will be a cold, yet sunny day with highs ranging from the middle 20s to 30F. The northwest breeze will add to the 'chill factor'.
Light snow will be falling through early afternoom before tapering off between 1-3pm. Overall, a light accumulation of a dusting to 2" (3" spots) is expected. The day will end with peeks of sunshine.
Many backyards reached 60F+ degrees yesterday, and today the beat goes on! It's the last day of the thaw. High temperatures are tricky today due to the amount of cloud cover. My best guess leads me to believe the majority of Metrowest will reach 60-65F degrees this afternoon.
Yesterday was day #1 of the 3-day thaw. Most of our viewing area reached high temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Today will be warmer with highs in the middle 40s (Cape/Islands) to the lower 50s. There will be more sunshine in the morning followed by more clouds late in the day.
It's a chilly start to our Wednesday morning, but today is going to be the beginning of a 'February Thaw'. It seems that Mother Nature decided to postpone the January thaw. :) Highs today will range from the upper 30s to the lower 40s. Expect filtered sunshine due to high and mid-level clouds from a awarm front passing to our north.
The temperatures will take a downhill turn today before heading uphill tomorrow thru Friday. The sun will be shining , and the winds will be whipping today as strong cold air advection drops high temps into the lower and middle 20s today.
It's going to be a mild (relatively-speaking)Valentine's Day with highs in the middle 40s, but this will be accompanied by more clouds than sun and a slim chance of a spot shower.
Our first Arctic chunk of air settled into New England late in the day Tuesday. A reinforcing shot of Arctic air is heading our way tonight thru Thursday.
Rain/snow will continue to fall this morning and taper from west to east this afternoon. The light snow will add up to 2-4" total for our interior viewing area (esp. Worccester/Middlesex counties). Otherwise, a rain/snow mix will change to a few snow showers on the back edge of the low that track towards the northeast this afternoon.
