Clouds are on the increase as we move into the afternoon. SW breezes will pick up this afternoon with the approaching clouds and highs will be climbing into the 70's nearing 80.
High pressure has moved in just in time for Father's day weekend, bringing low humidity and light WNW winds for this Saturday with highs in the upper 70's and Lwr 80's. West winds will be just enough of a land breeze which will allow the Cape to climb into the mid-upper 70's as well.
Showers have been turning into a steadier rain. We will be tracking strong to severe thunderstorms in the mid-Atlantic states which will be shifting northward into New England tonight. These storms will weaken upon their arrival, but heavy downpours with rumbles of thunder are possible late tonight through the early morning hours which could drop rainfall rates up to 1" an hour and help to create this localized flooding while most are asleep.
Enjoy the sun today because we are already tracking our next batch of rain. Weak high pressure sits over us today with light west winds warming temps into the upper 70's and Lwr 80s inland during the afternoon. More clouds in northern new England where skies are partly cloudy.
Dry air has been eroding some of the clouds with sunshine in the CT river valley. These breaks of sun will be shifting eastward as the low departs, allowing for breaks of sun to emerge across Eastern MA for the midday through the afternoon. Still plenty of clouds mixed in to. With a breeze from the WNW, temps should respond to the increase of sun and allow highs to climb into the Lwr-mid 70's by the end of the day.
The Severe Storms Prediction Center issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 PM tonight for Northern Western and Central New England.
Once again will see highs climbing to 90-95 degrees by afternoon with abundant sunshine. Even our eastern facing beaches will climb into the lwr 90's. The Cape and Islands will be cooler with SW sea breeze with highs in 70's and Lwr 80's.
We are in for a 3-to-4 day heat wave, something more typical of July or August is coming in late May and early June.
High pressure west of us currently will be sliding south of New England and pulling off the coast. Winds will be shifting to the SSE Tuesday. This will help to warm inland areas into the mid 70's, but along the coast, light onshore winds will keep temps in the 60's to near 70.
Clouds remain today, but the rain is gone and that is making a huge difference. The low is currently hugging the coast of Maine and slowly lifting away. Abundant cloud cover remains in place with the effects of the Upper Low over us. Gusty WNW are wrapping into the back side of the low with gusts over 30 mph from time to time.
It looks like this will be a great Memorial Day with sunshine and temps climbing into the mid-upper 60's. Great weather for the parades and honoring those that have given their lives for this country.
Where the sunshine has been this morning, highs will be climbing into the upper 60's nearing 70 inland away from the coast this afternoon. Clouds will be on the increase ahead of a warm front which will begin to push into New England later today and tonight. This front will help to trigger showers by the mid-late afternoon inland. These showers will spread east tonight.
The jetstream is steering NW winds aloft supplying a comfortable dry airmass with fairly typical temperatures for this time of year with highs in the Lwr 70s inland, and cooling onshore winds at the coast keeping temps in the 60's at the beaches. Sunny to partly sunny skies for Saturday.
Clouds are breaking in inland with partly sunny skies. I expect this clearing line to continue to work itself west to east during the day with brightening skies, sun and clouds in place for the afternoon. Clouds will linger longer across SE MA and the Cape & Islands. With the increasing susnhine, temps will climb inot the upper 60's to near 70.
Ever wonder what the beginning of the Ice Age looked like?
More clouds than sun today, but there will be breaks of sun from time to time. Any considerable sunshine will easily spike temps to near 75, but for now I am playing it conservative with highs ranging from 70-75. We will have to watch for a few scattered light showers from time to time...but most of the day will be dry across eastern MA which should make it OK to be outdoors most of the time.
New England has another crystal clear day in the sunshine. Again the warm spots will be in western New England climbing to near 70 degrees or above. Vermont will again climb into the mid 70's. Across eastern MA, it has been a bit more of a struggle. Light onshore winds off the 48 degree water is keeping considerably cooler at the beaches with highs again in the lwr to mid 50's, while inland highs will be in the lwr to mid 60's.
WBZ Meteorologist Joe Joyce celebrated Cinco de Mayo Sunday morning.
Wall to wall sunshine this weekend with gradually moderating temperatures heading into next week. Highs will be cooler at the beaches this weekend with light onshore winds keeping temps in the 50's. Inland will feel much warmer away from the onshore wind with highs in the lwr-mid 70's in northern and western England, and mid-upper 60's nearing 70+ for the Worcester hills, to Metrowest, Merrimack Valley into SNH by Sunday.
With Saturn and Earth at a close point in their orbits around the Sun, New England residents will have a spectacular view of the Ringed Planet for the next few weeks.
Obviously, gorgeous weather today with highs near 70-75 in many inland areas this afternoon, especially outside 128 and 495. Winds will shift onshore for the SE for a cooling PM Sea breeze at the beaches.
High pressure sits over us today providing sunshine and warming temps into the 60's near 70 farther inland. With light winds, an afternoon sea breeze will kick in to keep temps in the 50's to near 60 at the beaches. A few high to mid level clouds will be sliding through during the afternoon for some filtered sunshine.
Drying westerly breezes are following in for the afternoon with skies trying to become partly sunny. A steady SW flow aloft is helping to provide some midlevel cloud cover which will help to keep temps mainly in the mid-upper 50's for the second half of the day.
Clouds will increase and thicken, along with gusty SW winds late Tuesday afternoon ahead of a front which will bring a few showers Tuesday night. Building high pressure for Wednesday with plenty of sunshine and mild conditions.
