Red Sox DH David Ortiz is back to being "Big Papi," batting .304 with 19 home runs and 55 RBI. Ortiz has also only struck out 37 times so far this season. In addition to being named to his sixth All-Star team, Ortiz is also the captain of the AL HR Derby squad.
1B Adrian Gonzalez
Adrian Gonzalez has put up MVP numbers in his first season in Boston, leading the Majors with 77 RBI and is tops in the AL with a .354 batting average and 120 hits. Gonzalez has 17 homers and 29 doubles. He is heading to his first All-Star game as an American Leaguer after being named to three All-Star teams while in San Diego.
CF Jacoby Ellsbury
Ellsbury has bounced back from playing in just 18 games in 2010, hitting .316 with 11 home runs and 62 runs scores. The speedy outfielder is heading to the first All-Star game of his career.
SP Josh Beckett
Beckett has returned to his 2007 form, and was named to his third All-Star team because of it. Beckett is third in the AL with a 2.27 ERA while posting an 8-3 record, striking out 93 batters in 111 innings.
3B Kevin Youkilis
Youk was added to the AL squad after Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez withdrew with an injury. It will be Youkilis third All-Star game but first as a third baseman.
SP Jon Lester
Despite being on the 15-day DL with a Lat Strain, Jon Lester was named to his second All-Star team. Lester finished the first half of the season 10-4 with a 3.31 ERA with 110 strikeouts.
