Everyone loves making out a wish list for the holidays. Here are a few things the local sports teams would like to get during the season of giving.
Three (or Four) Playoff Wins
The Patriots will likely secure a first round bye within the next two weeks, meaning all they will need is three wins in the playoffs. While they haven’t seen one since 2007, just one playoff win will not be enough for eager and anxious Patriots fans.
Stay Off The Naughty List
With the "Beer and Chicken Gang" collapsing in September, fans would like to see a well behaved and professional team take the field (and clubhouse) at Fenway next year.
Time Machine For Celtics
With the Big 3 all hitting their mid-30’s, a time machine wouldn’t be a bad gift for the Celtics. They should be fine when it comes to making the playoffs, but even with a strike-shortened season fans have to wonder if there is enough tread on the tires for another title run.
Stay Healthy!
It seems like the only thing that could stop the Bruins right now is…. we won’t even say it. Just stay healthy and the B's have a great shot to repeat as Stanley Cup Champs.
More From #85
Sure there are only a few games left in the regular season, but it would be nice to see Chad Ochocinco do more than just stand on the sidelines and maybe throw out a block or two. Ocho caught his first touchdown of the season against Denver, maybe it will wake him up when the “real” season starts.
A Closer
Mark Melancon was a nice pick up for Boston, but it’s unknown if he can close in the AL East. Red Sox fans are hoping Ben Cherington will grab a proven closer before the season starts, be it Ryan Madson, Andrew Bailey or even a one-year trial with a veteran.
Another Starter
The Red Sox have some holes in their rotation, so another starter or two would be great gift from Cherington to his new club. Several veterans remain on the market, including Roy Oswalt, Hiroki Kuroda and Jeff Francis.
Better Secondary Play
Devin McCourty has taken a big step back, and the Patriots are once again the worst defense against the pass. While their 11-3 record masks their deficiencies a bit, the Pats will have to face better offensive teams on their road to Indianapolis.
An Alarm Clock For Tyler Seguin
The 19-year-old could use one that changes time zones for him, although his one-game benching should be enough of a wake-up call not to miss any more team breakfasts and meetings.
Help Off The Bench
The Celtics bench took a big hit when Jeff Green was ruled out for the season. With an open roster spot, it would be nice to see another proven body off the bench. Mickael Pietrus would be a great fit once he clears waivers on Saturday..
