Despite all the trade rumors, Rajon Rondo is back to quarterback the Celtics. Rondo averaged a career-high 11.2 assists per game last season, but saw other parts of his game regress. He did not take the Kendrick Perkins trade well, and his play showed it. He earned big brownie points in the playoffs for playing with a dislocated elbow, averaging 14 points and 9.6 assists per game in nine playoff games.
Ray Allen- G
Allen returns for his 15th NBA season after averaging 16.5 points per game in 36 minutes. He averaged 19 points in nine playoff games, shooting 52% from the field and 57% from three-point range.
Paul Pierce- F
This will be Pierce's 14th season with the Celtics. The C's captain averaged 18.9 points per game last season and shot a career high 50% from the field. He scored 20.8 points per game during the playoffs.
Kevin Garnett- F/C
The 35-year-old Garnett has one more year remaining on his current contract. KG played well last season, seeing action in 71 regular season games, averaging 14.9 points and 8.9 rebounds in 31.3 minutes per game. While he has lost a step, he is still among the team's leaders on defense. Garnett averaged 14.9 points and 10.9 rebounds during the postseason.
Jermaine O'Neal- C
O'Neal enters his 15th NBA season hoping to play more than his 14th. The center only hit the court for 24 regular season games, 10 starts, averaging just 5.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. O'Neal did return for the postseason, starting all nine games for Boston. He picked his averages up a bit in the playoffs, scoring 5.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Jeff Green- F
The Celtics re-signed Jeff Green to a one-year deal. He was up-and-down for Boston after being acquired from the Thunder for Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson. With Boston, Green averaged 9.8 points in 26 regular season games, but never really looked comfortable with his new team. Hopefully a training camp (albeit a short one) will get him more comfortable in the Celtics system.
Chris Wilcox- C/F
Wilcox, a 6’10”, 235lbs forward/center, appeared in 57 games for the Detroit Pistons last season averaging 7.4 points and 4.8 rebounds in 17.5 minutes per game.
Brandon Bass- F
The Celtics acquired Bass from the Orlando Magic in a sign-and-trade for Glen "Big Baby" Davis. Known as an undersized power forward, Bass averaged a career high 11.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game for the Magic last season. Over his six-year career, Bass has averaged 7.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest.
Mickael Pietrus- F
The Celtics added the veteran swing-man to provide some more depth off the bench. Pietrus will bring another shooter and defender to the Boston second unit.
Marquis Daniels- F/G
The Celtics have brought back the 6'6" Daniels after he appeared in 49 games for Boston in 2010-11, averaging 5.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 19.1 minutes per game. He suffered a spinal injury in February and required surgery. He was traded to the Sacramento Kings at the trade deadline to free up a roster spot.
Keyon Dooling- G
An 11-year veteran, the Celtics will be Doolings sixth team in his NBA career. The 6'3' guard averages 7.2 points and 2.3 assists per game for his career, shooting 42% from the field. He will back up Rajon Rondo at the point, and could see some time at shooting guard as well.
JaJuan Johnson- F/C
Drafted 27th overall by the New Jersey Nets in the first round of the draft, Johnson was quickly shipped to the Celtics. He was a Consensus-All American, the Big Ten Player of the Year, as well as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year during his senior year at Purdue. He will add some size, and youth, to the Celtics bench.
E'Twaun Moore- G
Moore was drafted in the second round of the NBA draft by the Celtics in last year's draft out of Purdue. He was on the Big Ten First Team his freshman and sophomore year, and made the second team his junior and senior years. Moore graduated third on Purdue's All-Time Scoring list, dropping 2,136 points over his four years. He could be the scorer off the bench the Celtics have needed in recent years.
Avery Bradley- PG
Bradley is back for his second season in the NBA, and will likely serve as a third-string point guard behind Rajon Rondo and Keyon Dooling. He showed some good flashes on defense during his rookie season, but his offensive game still needs a lot of work.
Greg Stiemsma- C
Stiemsma, a 6’11 center, last played for the Sioux Fall Sky Force of the NBA Development League. He was named the 2010 NBADL Defensive Player of the Year after he averaged 9.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and a league-leading 3.7 blocks per game for the Sky Hawks in 2010.
