Zolak: "You Know Brady's Worth The Money"
Gresh and Zo talk about the rumored Tom Brady contract that is in place and whether or not this deal lets the Kraft ownership group off the hook. Andy Gresh says that this new deal should make Patriots fans giddy.
Gresh: "A lot of people are going to look at this and say 'Well what's the guaranteed money? How come he didn't get a longer contract? Are the Patriots not willing to negotiate with him?' I look at this deal from the Tom Brady perspective one way: He should see every dollar of this extension. Does this take the Krafts off the hook in terms of some of the criticism they've been taking about getting contracts done for some of their players? All we've heard is that the Jets sign their guys and the Patriots don't sign their guys. The Patriots, it looks like, have a deal in place to sign one of their guys. I would hope this makes Patriots fans giddy."
Zolak: "When you talk about the return on investment, the dollar value, people are going to sit there and rip Sam Bradford for every bad game he has this year. All you're going to hear is the $60 million question: Was the guy worth it? You know Brady's worth it. And you know [Peyton] Manning's going to be worth it when his deal gets announced. With this new CBA, the guaranteed money is what's talked about. The guaranteed money part of it is probably what's keeping Logan Mankins out of camp. The Brady deal had to get done prior to taking a snap in Week 1. And we've said that all along. I don't read much into this, I don't say 'Hey, the team won here.' The guy's going to be making $19.3 million per year. That's pretty damn good."
