Youkilis Out For Red Sox, Pedroia Back At Cleanup
BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis is out of the lineup Tuesday night against the Blue Jays, one day after being hit with a pitch in his upper back.
The Red Sox third baseman was hit in the fourth inning of Monday's 9-7 loss to the Blue Jays. Youkilis experienced headaches after the beaning, the ninth time this season he has been hit by a pitch.
Youkilis holds the Red Sox club record with 77 HBP's over his career.
He hopes to return to the lineup for Wednesday night's game.
With Youkilis out second baseman Dustin Pedroia will be back in the cleanup spot. Pedroia hit fourth in the lineup last week when Youkilis missed a game after fouling a ball off his foot. Pedroia went 1-for-5 with a solo home run from the four-spot. He is 14-for-25 in his career batting cleanup with three home runs, eight RBI and seven runs scored.
