Wyc Grousbeck With Felger & Mazz: 'It Starts With KG, He's A Monster'
Felger and Massarotti were joined by Boston Celtics managing partner Wyc Grousbeck to talk some Celtics and the Eastern Conference finals series with the Miami Heat.
How can the Celtics get past their struggles in closeout games?
Despite many fans jumping to the conclusion that the C's will win Game 6 and advance to the Finals, Wyc said he's not taking anything for granted.
"Obviously they didn't give us two wins for last night," Grousbeck said. "It was a great win ... but tomorrow night, if we fall down by double digits, which in a typical NBA game you do, if we're down 12 points I'm going to be sitting there saying, 'Oh no we've got Game 7.' We're gonna be right back in there in the soup. This thing's not over. I do feel that way."
What has rejuvenated Kevin Garnett?
"He's got heart and pride. ... We'll never see another KG," Grousbeck said. "He made this whole thing happen, starting on '08, when he got here, he re-energized everything.
"It starts with KG. He's just a monster," Grousbeck said.
Grousbeck also shared exactly how the team approached the re-signing of head coach Doc Rivers last year and how the organization felt it important to make him one of the highest-paid coaches in the league.
Felger also asked Grousbeck if the Big Three still being together was more a product of great planning or great fortune. Grousbeck also spoke at length about how LeBron is good for the NBA.
And of course, officiating was once again discussed, though this time there was little to complain about.
