Boy Wounded In Dorchester Shooting Released From Hospital
DORCHESTER (CBS) – The 7-year-old Brockton boy shot outside his grandmother's apartment in Dorchester was released from the hospital Wednesday night.
The boy's mother, Dijanira Deandrade, said Divan Silva was limping but able to walk. She said they are exhausted from the ordeal that began on Sunday.
Disturbing new images have been released showing the moment the boy was shot in the backside by a stray bullet while riding his bike in Dorchester.
The shooting took place on Bowdoin Street outside a barber shop, and though Silva is now in good condition, his injuries left him hospitalized for several days.

Some residents said the video should not have been released. Others argued the public needs to see the footage to encourage outrage and push those associated with the crime to come forward.
"It's something we emphasize inside the church and outside the church that if you're protecting these people that perpetrate these crimes you're leaving the community unprotected," said Dorchester resident Barry Lawton.
Lawton attends the church directly across the street from where the shooting happened. He said his neighbors want to help police catch the suspect, and help turn things around in Dorchester.
"It's clear that we need to have communication early to be proactive not reactive," said Lawton. "It impacts people because everyone wants to live in safety."
Kevin Peterson lives across the street from the crime scene.
He too wants to see more self-policing, but he also wants to see troubled youth get some help so they don't turn to violence.
"I don't think they're crazy, I don't think they're necessarily evil, but I think there's pressures that would drive them to shoot another human being so I think people want to have some compassion about that," said Peterson.
The suspect is described as a black teenager about 5'8" inches tall, heavier set, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, white shorts and sneakers. Police still don't have any suspects.
"It's still an open investigation," said Boston Mayor Marty Walsh. "(Silva is) up alert and happy."
There is a community meeting scheduled at the teen center on Bowdoin Street at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
There they plan to address this issue, encouraging self-policing and trying to prevent anything like this from happening again.
"Having communication and reiterating that police cannot do that by themselves. The community has the responsibility to self-police," said Lawton.
