Surveillance Video Shows Shooting Outside Worcester Barbershop
WORCESTER (CBS) – Police are investigating after two people were shot near a barbershop and beauty salon in Worcester Wednesday afternoon. Surveillance video shows the moment a man lifts his gun and shoots another man in the area of 709 Main Street.
"I was leaning up against the fence and I heard bang. It was loud. You know we hear guns around here all the time but it was loud so I thought wow," said witness Greg Creagh.
Ron O'Clair captured the crime on his home cameras and quickly watched the tape after he heard the shots just before 2 p.m.
"I heard four loud explosions under my window – boom, boom, boom, boom," O'Clair said.
In the video, you can see men running away throwing a backpack behind a building and even helping their friend who had been shot as he struggles to walk. They then place him in a car before police arrive.
"It was like one, two, three, four shots maybe at the most," Creagh said.
When officers arrived, they were told that the victim had just been driven to a local hospital. Officers located the man at the hospital and confirmed that he had been shot and suffered serious injuries.
Officers located a second shooting victim on Main Street who was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Multiple witnesses watched the shooting in front of the hair salon and barbershop.
"I didn't know if he was going to turn and shoot at me so I hid behind the building because he had the gun out," Creagh said.
Now only shattered glass remains with apparent bullet holes in the beauty salon window and in the window of a nearby car about 100 feet away.
Police said the shooting remains under investigation.
