Worcester Police: Man Found Dead In Fire 'Died Under Suspicious Circumstances'

WORCESTER (CBS) -- Police are calling the death of a man found after crews responded to a house fire "suspicious."

The body of the 54-year-old Worcester man was found by firefighters who responded to the Halmstad Street home around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday night after neighbors reported smelling smoke.

They said he was lying face down in his living room, and the fire was confined to a small area around him. They put out the fire and called police.

He has not yet been identified. Police said his lower body was badly burned, and he appeared to have an injury to his head.

 

Police said the man "died under suspicious circumstances."

No arrests have been made in connection to his death.
