Worcester Lake Closed Due To High Bacteria Counts
WORCESTER (CBS) -- A popular lake for swimming is closed because of high bacteria counts.
Residents have been told not to go in the water in the area of Lake Quinsigamond immediately south of the Route 9 Bridge until further notice.
Bacteria and chemicals from sewer overflow can make people sick if they swallow any water.
Animals are usually not affected, but if a pet does go in the water during/after an overflow, be sure to give it a good bath as soon as possible.
Officials say they will continue to monitor the water quality.
