Worcester Police Seek Driver In Fatal Hit And Run

WORCESTER (CBS) – Police are searching for the driver who killed a 56-year-old Worcester man in an early Saturday morning hit and run.

The pedestrian was hit just before 3 a.m. on West Boylston Street.

Worcester Police said the man was rushed to an area hospital but was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Investigators believe based on evidence from the scene that the vehicle involved may be a 2000-2002 GMC Yukon or Sierra, a large passenger truck or SUV.

According to police, the vehicle is likely missing its passenger side mirror, has a broken front headlight or grill, and should have damage to its front passenger side.

Melissa and Michael Cassata were woken up by the crash that happened just outside of their West Boylston Street house. They saw the victim taken away by an ambulance.

Anyone with information is asked to call Worcester Police at (508) 799-8606.
