Worcester City Council Votes To Temporarily Move Homeless Shelter
WORCESTER (CBS) - People in Worcester who've been fighting the location of a new homeless shelter have apparently achieved a victory.
Tuesday night, the city council voted to temporarily put the center at another facility, which is more than two and half miles away from the original planned facility.
There are five schools and a school bus stop near the old Anna Maria rest home, which was the initial planned location for the shelter.
Neighbors were worried drug addicts, alcoholics and even sex offenders will soon flock to the home for a 72-hour, or longer, assessment of their problems and needs.
The temporary shelter opens tomorrow.
