Worcester bus drivers authorize strike
Drivers and mechanics for the the Worcester Regional Transit Authority have voted to authorize a strike if their contract dispute is not settled.
A union vote Sunday authorizes the Executive Board to vote to strike if the authority imposes a last contract offer amid tense negotiations.
Drivers have been without a contract since July 1.
The WRTA says it hopes to avoid a strike, and that there's no intention of imposing a last offer before the union has a chance to review it.
A mediation session is planned for Tuesday
