Stellar Weekend...Next Chance of Showers?
What else can you say? How many superlatives can you use to describe this weather? I though last weekend was great...but this one just may take the cake for being so downright nice and pleasant! High pressure sits over us today providing cooler drier air in from Canada with a breeze from the NNE. Onshore winds are a bit breezy at the coast which will help to keep temps in the lwr 70's at the beaches this afternoon. Meanwhile, away from any onshore wind, highs will be in the mid-upper 70's to near 80 in western New England.
Any wind will be gone tonight with the high cresting over us with clear skies, light winds. Lows will drop into the mid-upper 40's in most suburbs, but remain near 60 in Boston. After a cool start, temps will be a few degrees warmer Sunday. The high will slide south and wrap in a light west wind for most areas. Winds will be light enough to turn onshore during the afternoon. Highs will be in the 70's and lwr 80's inland away from the sea breeze.
By Monday, breezy more humid SW winds will develop ahead of an approaching front which could trigger a few showers north in the morning, with the better chance of a few showers or a t'storms south during the later afternoon. Temps will remain fairly seasonal right through much of this week with highs remaining in the 70's and Lwr 80's
This is shocking because much of the nation is in the beginning of what could become a dangerous heat wave. The Midwest is seeing high heat in the 90's nearing 100+ in spots under a heat ridge which does not want to budge. As the heat and ridge try to shift east, it encounters the cool dry air over the Canadian Maritimes. A boundary is getting set between these two airmasses, with a fast flow to the Jetstream from the NW. Several disturbances will ride towards New Enlgand with the best chances of showers Monday late and Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. The upper ridge will be shifting east just in time for the Labor day weekend bringing with it the potential for more sunshine and warming temps back into the 80's
