2 Women Struck By Hit & Run Driver In Sutton
SUTTON (CBS) – A comment about a boyfriend hugging someone is blamed for a woman running two others over, according to witnesses.
Officers descended on the small community known as "New Village" in the village of Manchaug in Sutton. At around 1:15 P.M. police received 911 calls that a car had hit someone. Once they arrived, police said a woman had run over two other women. The driver had then grabbed bags from her car and ran.
Police dogs led officers to Stacey Piercey, 44, who was a quarter mile away. She was arrested and faces two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and operating to endanger.
Friends said Darlene Murray Wolfe of Worcester was taken by med-flight to the hospital. Her adult niece, Trisha Lucier, was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Witnesses say Piercey snapped when she heard her boyfriend had hugged a woman who was also at the scene, but not injured.
Police said they were still investigating the motive. They are holding Piercey and expect to take her to court Thursday.
