Mother Shot, Killed In Roxbury
ROXBURY (CBS) – Boston Police are looking for help in their search for the person who shot and killed a woman in Roxbury late Tuesday night.
She was shot near a garden area on Seaver Street around 10:30 p.m. and died at the scene.
Relatives identified her Wednesday as 31-year-old Grisele Sanchez, a mother of three children.
Officers searched the area for evidence for several hours overnight and so far there are no suspects.
Residents told WBZ-TV they saw a group of boys running from the scene.
A woman in a home nearby said she heard four gunshots and that two of them ended up in her living room. One bullet knocked a photo off a wall.
"I don't remember any gunshots ever over here, but this time here, it was big time because this time I really panicked, I got so scared. Only thing I thought of was my grandchildren," Beatrice Cole told WBZ.
Police believe Sanchez was the innocent victim of a senseless shootout.
"It's up to us to take all these guns off the street. There's too many guns here," BPD Superintendent in Chief William Gross told reporters.
As police search for the killer, the victim's family joined city leaders at a vigil Wednesday night to plead for justice.
"People should be outraged," Police Commissioner William Evans said.
"A young mother of three should be able to walk the streets, walk through the park," Mayor Marty Walsh said.
This was the 15th murder in Boston this year.
