Woman Seeks Owner Of Buddha Found On Fire Hydrant Along Rte. 38
TEWKSBURY (CBS) - A Tewksbury woman is looking for the owner of a Buddha statue she found sitting on a fire hydrant along Route 38 several months ago.
When Lucy Del Ponte saw the statue, she knew it was in the wrong spot. Fearing the Buddha was stolen, Del Ponte called police in Lowell and Tewksbury, but no one had reported it missing.
So, Del Ponte kept the statue and has been searching for its owner ever since. She made a post on Craigslist looking for the owner, but no one came forward.
Del Ponte believes the Buddha may have been a restaurant decoration and was likely stolen.
The hollow, fiberglass statue is 18 inches tall and 13 inches wide with no identifiable markings. She said the bottom of the statue does not appear to be damaged and said she does not know if the Buddha is part of a bigger statue.
For now, Del Ponte keeps the statue with her at work.
If the statue is yours, feel free to call Del Ponte at 978-455-5002.
