Woman Pleads Guilty To Kidnapping And Abandoning Fall River Infant
FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) -- A Pennsylvania woman has pleaded guilty to kidnapping her 13-month-old niece in Massachusetts then abandoning the baby in Connecticut.
Kimberly Johnson, of Altoona, Pa., pleaded guilty in Fall River Superior Court on Tuesday to charges of kidnapping, reckless endangerment of a child and assault and battery. A second reckless endangerment charge was dismissed.
She is scheduled to be sentenced May 19. The Herald News reports that prosecutors are seeking a seven- to 10-year sentence. Her defense lawyer is asking for four to seven years.
Authorities say the 39-year-old Johnson, who also goes by Alyssa Dawn Johnson, kidnapped Jaylin Boudria, her half-sister's child, in February 2010. Jaylin was found unharmed a few hours later in Middletown, Conn.
Authorities say Johnson wanted to pass off the child as her own.
