Woman killed in Revere hit-and-run
A 40-year-old Revere woman, killed in a hit and run accident at Butler Circle in Revere, ironically was catching a bus to the same methadone clinic where the alleged driver was picked up.
Police say 52-year-old Gerald Alviti will be arraigned on a count of leaving the scene of an accident causing death, for the crash that claimed the life of Cynthia Osborne. "My daughter is gone for no reason," her father George Osborne tells WBZ-TV. "He killed her and left her laying there in the street. Thank God somebody followed the guy."
An alert police officer with the postal service spotted the silver car at the scene of the accident, and later saw it parked at a methadone clinic in Lynn where he was taken into custody.
The victim's family says Cynthia Osborne had been attending the clinic for the past few years, fighting drug addiction. And now her family wonders if the alleged hit and driver actually knew her. "They must have known each other. He must have seen her, hit her and knew her," said the victim's brother Stephen Osborne.
Her family says she was working as a home health aide in Revere and took the bus to the clinic everyday.
Other pedestrians who walk in the area say it's one of the most dangerous intersections they've ever encountered. "There's no way to get around it, no cross walks, you kind of have to play 'chicken' with the cars," said David Levitan as he got off the blue line at Wonderland.
Stephen Osborne says his sister was killed as she tried to help herself. "She seemed like she was trying to do the right thing, and now this, now she's gone." he said.
