Woman Killed In NH Murder Suicide Linked To Utah Politician
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A woman found dead in New Hampshire in an apparent murder-suicide has a Utah connection: her claims that she hot-tubbed naked as a teenager with a state lawmaker later led to the House member's resignation.
Cheryl Maher's father, Richard, tells The Associated Press his daughter was found dead Sunday morning.
New Hampshire authorities say police found the bodies of a man and woman in a Weare, N.H. home. They say it appeared the man killed the woman. Authorities have not released the names of the victims, but Richard Maher confirms his daughter was killed.
Last year, Kevin Garn resigned as Utah's House majority leader after admitting he paid Maher $150,000 to keep quiet about the hot-tubbing incident that took place a quarter century earlier when she was just a teenager.
