Firefighters were called to the house on Winter Street around 5:30 a.m.
It was filled with heavy smoke and during a search of the home they found 48-year-old Diane Anderson in the bedroom.
They rushed Anderson out the front door, performed CPR on her and then brought her to Brockton Hospital, where she died.
Firefighters also had more trouble with the fire.
"The house flashed over at that time. All crews were pulled from the building. We struck a second alarm and went (into) defense operation," Fire Chief George Rogers told WBZ-TV.
There's no word yet on how the fire started, but the chief told WBZ it does not appear to be suspicious.
