Woman Killed, Another Injured In I-95 Crash In Attleboro
ATTLEBORO (CBS) -- One woman was killed and another seriously injured Saturday morning when the SUV they were in was hit by a car on I95 in Attleboro.
The crash happened at about 8:15 a.m. on the southbound side of I95 near exit 2.
State police say a woman driving a Toyota Camry in the right travel lane rear ended a Ford Explorer. The Explorer lost control and rolled. The driver, 57-year-old Claudette J. Kumor from Northborough, was ejected, and her 34-year-old passenger, Carolyn Bibbo, from Woonsocket, R.I. was trapped.
The vehicles landed in the left and middle lanes of the highway.
Kumor died at the scene. Bibbo was freed and taken to Study Memorial Hospital. The driver of the Camry was not injured.
State police are investigating speed as a possible factor in the crash and will determine whether criminal charges will be filed.
The left and middle lanes of the highway were closed until about 11 a.m.
