Nurse Hit By Car, Killed Outside St. Elizabeth's Medical Center In Brighton
BRIGHTON (CBS) – A nurse was hit by a car and killed right outside of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton Wednesday morning. The victim has been identified as Ann O'Flaherty of Westwood.
It happened around 6:20 a.m. on Washington Street. Boston Police said the driver of the Audi stayed at the scene.
An accident reconstruction team tested the car before it was towed away.
"This morning, a St. Elizabeth's Medical Center employee was struck by a passing vehicle and died at the scene," the hospital said in a statement. "We are heartbroken by the news of this tragic accident and are providing support to the victim's family and our colleagues during this very difficult time."
O'Flaherty has been a nurse at St. Elizabeth's since June 1988. She is a native of Ireland and is survived by her husband and three children.
