Woman Dies After Revere Hit-And-Run, Driver Found
REVERE (CBS) – A woman who was the victim in a hit-and-run crash in Revere has died, police said.
Mary Ann Fiandaca, 46, was hit by an SUV on Revere Beach Parkway around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
The driver, 79-year-old Paul Graf of Revere, admitted that he had left the scene.
His attorney, Peter Marano, says Graf thought he hit a pothole, but when he checked the damage, his family called police. He also says that his client is expressing extreme condolences for Mary Ann's family.
State Police initially said Fiandaca had died, but they later reported she was resuscitated and in critical condition at Massachusetts General Hospital. She later passed away.
Graf was treated at a local hospital for chest pains. He has not been charged at this point in the investigation.
"We have a meeting with members from the homicide unit of the Suffolk DA's office and the State Police on Friday. Mr. Graf was released from the hospital. There's no indication of any alcohol use, any drug use, or any impairment," Marano said.
Mary Ann Fiandaca's daughter has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the funeral expenses.
"My mum was such a kind, free spirit, funny, loving, giving, soul," Kaylee Ann Fiandaca wrote. "She was one of my favorite people and I loved her dearly."
"She was a lovely person, caring person," Mary Ann's mother, Linda Raymond said. "When they come and tell you, police come and tell you, that your daughter passed away at Mass General Hospital it's very tough. I wish she was here, but what can I do."
Mary Ann's parents are looking for answers while they grieve.
"Why? Why not stop? You don't just keep going, you stop and try and help them," John Raymond, Mary Ann's father said.
