Pair Save Mother, Son From Drowning In Pool At Harwich Inn
BOSTON (CBS) - A woman and her young son survived a scare after they were pulled from a pool at an inn in Harwich late Sunday night.
Police and firefighters were called to the Winstead Inn and Beach Resort on Parallel Street just before 9 p.m. for a report of a possible drowning.
Harwich police told WBZ-TV Monday an 8-year-old boy fell into the pool and his mother went in after him, but she also had trouble in the water.
WBZ-TV's Ken MacLeod reports.
Two neighbors, Allen Furman and Dumitru Babes, heard the screams, jumped the fence and ran over to the outdoor pool, according to police. They pulled the mother and son out of the water and immediately began CPR until authorities arrived.
Both mother and son were rushed to Cape Cod Hospital. They were both conscious and talking in the ambulance.
The mother and son were later released from the hospital.
Their names have not been released.
The family, who had just arrived on vacation from Pennsylvania, is still staying at the inn. The pool there had just passed its annual safety inspection.
