Woman, 93, Bound In Hollis, NH Home Invasion
HOLLIS, N.H. (CBS) -- Hollis, New Hampshire police are searching for the intruders who broke into a home early Wednesday morning and tied up a 93-year-old woman and her 60-year-old caregiver.
Police are still trying to determine why the home was targeted, but don't believe it was a random crime. The caregiver was able to break free once the intruders left the home, and run to a neighbor for help.
"It is disheartening to see an elderly woman going through the trauma," said neighbor Tony Soares.
He says the victim lost her sight four years ago, about the same time she lost her husband. Police say she was in the home, bound by the hands, until officers arrived.
"What kind of a wimp would pick on somebody blind and ninety-some years old," said Honi Glover who runs the Hollis Seniors and says the victim, who suffered non-life threatening injuries, had been active in the community.
Police are trying to determine what, if anything, was taken from the home and how the intruders gained entry. A van that may have belonged to them was towed away and now the community is pulling for a friend and neighbor they describe as resilient. "She has spirit, she can do it, she can overcome it," said Glover.
