Wilmington Girl Asks Santa For Donations To Children In Need
WILMINGTON (CBS) – Eight year Kylie Plowman and her younger sister are counting down the days to Christmas. "I am really excited," Kylie said.
This year Christmas came early for Kylie in an unusual way. "I read an article that a girl wanted to donate money to a hospital and I thought it was a good idea and I thought I should pass it on," Kylie said.
Kylie wrote to her elf on the shelf a letter for him to give to Santa Claus saying the most helpful thing in the world would be to get $500-$600 dollars to donate to Boston Children's Hospital and Toys for Wilmington Children.
"Not a lot of people get Christmas gifts on Christmas and they don't have a lot of money to get things and some people who are sick don't have money to get, so I thought to donate money to them it could help them a lot," Kylie said.
Her mother was so impressed by her daughter's generous heart that she posted her letter on social media and started a GoFundMe page called "Kylie's Gift of Giving".
Now the donations keep pouring in and they've raised more than $2,500.
"It's unbelievable the responses we've been getting and the generosity people are sharing to this Go Fund Me page," Melissa Plowman said.
Half of the money will be donated to the Wilmington Fire Department's Toys for Wilmington Children drive and the other half will be given to Boston Children's Hospital.
