Wild Temperature Swing

Mother natures is giving us quite a ride!

The 60s and 70s of yesterday are gone, and the 40s are moving in.

The huge temperature drop is due to the passage of a cold front.

The tight pressure gradient created peak wind gusts between 45 to 60 mph yesterday.

This front is moving through now with a line of showers and even a few snow showers far north and west and the higher elevations of central Massachusetts.

The precipitation will exit by 8 am and the sky will clear out quickly.

Even with sunshine, the highs will only be in the middle 40s today.

Winds will continue to lose power throughout the day as well.

A second shot of colder air will increase our clouds this evening and bring us a few flurries and snow showers (a rain/snow mix closer to the coast) tonight, mainly between 9 p.m.- 5 a.m.  This has potential of dropping a quick coating to an inch in a few backyards.

Saturday will become mostly sunny with highs struggling to reach 40F.

Then, a rebounding warm front will carry temperatures back into the middle and upper 50s on Sunday.

The newfound warmth will be accompanied by plentiful sunshine.

The pick day this weekend is Sunday!

Temperatures climb even higher on Monday.

The thermometers will be reading middle 60s!

Then, we have a couple of chances of showers on Tuesday and again late-day Thursday.

In between, temperatures will remain mild, and the sun will be shining.

Long-range models show more ridging/blocking for the eastern half of the nation as head into the middle and latter part of the month.

That would mean dry and mild conditions for the most part.

Happy FRRRiday!
