Wild Afternoon...
Never a dull weather moment lately and this afternoon is proof of that. We saw a confirmed EF1 tornado in Connecticut and another possible one in Agawam, MA along with 4 other tornado warnings this afternoon in Eastern and Central MA. Thankfully, so far, I have not heard of any injuries. Along with the tornado threat, torrential rain lead to numerous reports of street and parking lot flooding. Although there are still a few showers out there, the active weather has subsided for the evening.
Not much changes tomorrow or Wednesday...we are still looking at very warm and humid conditions and with a stationary front draped over the area providing a focal point, more drenching thunderstorms will be possible with the threat of flash flooding and damaging wind gusts the primary concerns.
Later this week, as a large ridge of high pressure over Bermuda strengthens and drifts back to the west, the zone of thunderstorms and unsettled weather will also shift just enough north and west to limit the development and threat of storms in the afternoon to minimal levels. This is great news for the 4th of July and beyond. While the storm threat will be small, the heat will be on the rise and highs will be right around 90 every day through the upcoming weekend.
