Whole Foods Recalls 74K Pounds Of Frozen Pizza Sold In Northeast
EVERETT (CBS) -- Whole Foods is recalling nearly 74,000 pounds of frozen pizza because they weren't labeled properly.
Federal food regulators say some of the supermarket's pepperoni pizza products were labeled as containing uncured beef pepperoni, when in fact they contained uncured pork pepperoni.
There are no reports of illnesses yet, but some people are sensitive to pork. The products with sell-by dates of Jan. 12, 2015 through Jan. 30, 2016 were sold in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island.
The pizzas being recalled are 10-ounce vacuum-sealed packages of "WHOLE FOODS MARKETS, PIZZA, PEPPERONI, 8" and 19-ounce vacuum-sealed package of "WHOLE FOODS MARKETS, PIZZA, PEPPERONI, 12."
Officials say anyone who bought the recalled pizzas should not eat them, and instead throw them away or return them to Whole Foods.
